| A GROOM’S JOURNEY | Joe & Glenn

Part One

If you’ve been following us for a while, you may remember us following wedding planners in our “A Bride’s Journey” features. Well now we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Joe & Glenn to the Save the Date family to kick of “A Groom’s Journey” with them. This gorgeous couple are tying the knot in early 2022 at industrial treasure The Pumping House so let’s get to know them and their wedding plans…

How did you and your husband-to-be meet?

Glenn was visiting a friend who had moved to Leeds to work with Joe. We met and started talking, eventually spending a year flying backwards and forwards on days off.

How long to go until your big day?

5 months! It will be a few weeks over 2 years being engaged so it suddenly feels like it’s coming along quickly

Have you chosen your wedding venue?

It was the first thing we knew we wanted and got it booked straight away! We’re lucky to have The Pumping House, Ollerton

How did he / you propose?

It was a complete surprise. We were on an amazing holiday in Iceland in March 2020 and after a day tour we took a trip out of Reykjavik to try to see the Northern Lights. There had been bad weather the night before and low activity forecast for the rest of the week so the timing was on our side. As we got out of the car and started to see the dancing lights he got down on one knee (in the snow!) and asked.

What element of your wedding is most important to you both?

That everything represents us, our personalities and our two families joining and spending time together, which rarely gets to happen. Even though we will be in the East Midlands countryside, we want there to be influences from Ireland, from decorations to music and even a little use of the Irish language.

What’s been your favourite part of wedding planning so far?

Getting to know our suppliers. It has been really important to me to build good relationships with the people that are helping make our day special, working together and keeping contact over social media throughout the last 18 months.

What’s been your least favourite part of wedding planning?

The uncertainty! Like a lot of people there have been times when we haven’t been sure what restrictions would allow, or even if we would be able to meet our initial budget. It has been particularly hard at times for us planning a wedding from another country and dealing with changing travel restrictions.

Describe how you want your wedding day to be in three words?

Relaxed, Stylish, Craic!

We can’t wait to hear more about their plans, it sounds like it will be an epic day! Keep your eyes peeled for part two when we catch up with the boys closer to their big day!
