Pretty As A Picture with party vibes

In the picturesque surroundings of Stamford town centre, Lucy and Matt tied the knot accompanied by their friends and family. Lucy wore the prettiest Anna Sorrano gown and chose a bouquet of dusky pink and lilac blooms to complete her gorgeous look. In true, post-covid style, the happy couple went all out to celebrate with their nearest and dearest; from wellie wanging to space hopper races, a great day was had by all! Eye Candy

The Ceremony

One of our favourite details of the day has to be the brass band we had playing before, during and after our ceremony. Matt plays in several brass bands so our wedding band was made up entirely of our friends and family, which along with the music we selected added such a personal touch. The ceremony was held in Matt’s home church and was conducted by the vicar who is a family friend. This led to a very personal service with lots of laughs which we loved.

Vibe

At the venue, we let the beautiful flowers provided by Designer Daisies take centre stage and complemented these with our own decorations including lots of hessian and wood, as well as homemade bunting that we made at my hen do. This created a wonderful rustic, countryside vibe which suited the venue perfectly.

The Dress

I just have to mention my beautiful dress, which was a one-off sample dress from WED2B. I was so lucky to stumble across it! The metallic lace details and illusion back were so beautiful and I chose an elegant fingertip length drop veil and gold and pearl accessories to complement my dress. I felt like a princess!

The Advice

Our main piece of advice is to make sure that your wedding day reflects who you are as a couple. It is easy to think you need to do things because you’ve seen them online or because people always do them. However, instead of just following tradition or the latest trends, have a think about what you want for your day and for your guests. For example, we cut our wedding cake at the church directly after the ceremony, which although a little unorthodox, meant that our guests were able to enjoy the cake and drink after the ceremony, so they didn’t get too hungry. If you have a crazy idea (like space hoppers) that you think would be fun, go for it! It is your wedding after all. On a similar note, consider your priorities for the day before choosing a photographer. We knew we wanted to spend most of our time with our friends and family (instead of posing for photos) and so we chose a photographer with a fun and natural documentary style that would allow us to do this. As you can see from the photos, Gina our photographer captured our day beautifully.

Sum It Up

Music played an important part in our day and our guests were treated to a brass concert prior to ceremony starting as I was 45 minutes late. Oops! At the reception we made sure to spend time with all of our guests, catching up after all the disruption caused by Covid. Our guests were well fed, initially by a three course wedding breakfast and later with a hog roast all provided by Saffron Catering. We also provided our own snacks in wooden crates which we left out for when our guests got peckish in the evening! Outside games provided much entertainment in the evening, including welly wanging and badminton (sometimes using the wellies as rackets). I also managed to race Matt on a space hopper.
