Welcome to the wedding of Jess and Laurie at The RidingSchool, Calke Abbey

Venue filled with character, charm and history

Welcome to the wedding of Jess & Laurie at The RidingSchool, Calke Abbey; a stunning National Trust property filled with character, charm and history. The bare brick walls, high ceilings, exposed oak beams and original windows create a romantic, rustic elegance that lends itself perfectly to every couple, their personality and style. The Riding School is beautifully situated on the Calke Abbey estate and is surrounded by over 600 acres of rolling Derbyshire Parkland, woodland, original greenhouses and an incredible orangery; if you hadn’t guessed yet, we think it is pretty special so it is no surprise that fun-loving and down to earth couple, Jess & Laurie, picked this as the place to celebrate their love and celebrate they did!

Surrounded by much loved friends and family, the most beautiful ceremony was performed under the twinkling festoons and was followed by the wedding breakfast of dreams.

Steering away from 'traditional' wedding décor, they opted for long wooden tables, wooden cross back chairs, black cheesecloth table runners, black linen napkins, low lying foliage, brass candlesticks and candles, wicker charger plates and foliage hung from the windows that trailed down the wall.

Gorgeous, right?

Following their wedding breakfast, Jess and Laurie made the most of the autumnal golden hour and went outside for photographs on the meadow and around the grounds.

They returned to the Riding School to cut their cake (a simple, two tier cake made by Jess’ auntie and sporting the biggest satin bow we ever did see on a wedding cake!) and then took to the floor for their first dance.

Of course, it wasn’t long until all their guests joined them and we have heard on good authority that the dance floor was never empty; the evening was full of laughter, dancing, dance off's and shots.

Jess & Laurie’s wedding day sounds like the perfect combination of style, fun and love all under the roof of a truly stunning venue.
