DIY Herb Teacup Wedding Favours

Posted by on in Blog, DIY.

Hello! I'm Chloe from Adore, welcome along to DIY fortnightly Friday where I share my favourite makes and crafty ideas to help you add a personal touch to your wedding day!

The one thing I'd encourage anyone planning their wedding to do is to put your personality into it! Write down a list of the things you love, music you like, your favourite foods, places, hobbies, etc, etc then think of ways you can bring these into your day?! For example if you love pretty vintage china, cooking or gardening this week's project is a perfect way of making your wedding favours a bit more personal...

The beauty of these is that they are a relatively inexpensive and easy to make. Your guests will pick them up with a smile and think "ah that's so xxx{insert your name here}xxx", plus they'll make your tables look pretty :-) You can pick up a vintage china teacup and saucer for a couple of pounds each at antiques fairs then simply add potting soil and your herbs!

What do you think? What wedding favours are you having? Are you buying or DIY-ing your favours?

DIY Cupcake Flags

Posted by on in DIY.

Anyone fancy a bit of DIY over the Easter weekend?  We hand you over to Chloe from Adore by Chloe for a DIY instalment on how to make these cute cupcake flags.

We had some friends over for dinner a few weeks ago. One of them is lactose intolerant so I was struggling with dessert until I remembered that my carrot cake recipe is made using oil not butter… phew!

I happily baked my carrot cake cupcakes but wanted to add a little decoration, this is what I came up with…

To make this you will need… kraft paper, a heart stamp, ink, cocktail sticks, glue and scissors

How to make it…

Step 1 ~ Cut out strips of kraft paper that are twice the length you’d like your flags to be.

Step 2 ~ Stamp each side of the flags with a heart in the centre

Step 3 ~ Fold the strips in half, apply glue then add your cocktail stick along the crease and glue them together to form the flags

Step 4 ~ Stick into your cupcakes and serve ;-)

TOP TIP – Try using patterned papers or cutting a little triangle out of the end of the flag to give it an arrow shape!

Introducing DIY Workshops at the Wedding Event with a Difference

Posted by on in Blog, DIY, Wedding Event with a Difference.

DIY is the new hot topic in the world of weddings so we thought we’d include some handcrafted lovelieness to our wedding event with a difference in April. And who better to be sprinkling some creative magic onto the event than the fabulous Chloe of DIY wedding blog, Adore by Chloe.

With a real emphasis on interactivity, we are so excited to introduce DIY workshops to our wedding event with a difference giving you the opportunity to book onto a course and learn a new craft in time for your big day.

Here’s what you can expect from the two workshops Chloe has planned:

Flower buttonholes
Learn how to make beautiful buttonholes or bridesmaids corsages using fresh flowers. You'll get to make and take home your corsage and pick up a few floristry tips along the way too! Taught by the wonderful Amy from Polka Dot Florist.

Wooden Bunting
Transform wooden bunting into a pretty venue decoration using a simple stamping technique. You'll design and take home a five letter string of bunting to add a gorgeous, rustic touch to your wedding day! Taught by Chloe from Adore.

So, any of you creatives out there fancy giving one of these DIY tasks a go? Then get booking your tickets! Please ensure you book in plenty of time as spaces are extremely limited.

DIY Fortnightly Friday!

Posted by on in Blog, DIY, Fab Suppliers.

It is finally Friday and time to have a few days of R&R - this week has been one of the busiest for little ol' Save the Date Magazine - all good fun though :-)

So, to get the weekend off to a fabulous start, we have a DIY tutorial with Chloe Adlington .... over to you my lovely!

DIY Wedding Veil

I took my newly engaged sister wedding dress shopping a few weeks ago. It was the first time she’d ever put one on and to watch her face light up as the veil was added to complete her look was extra special.

Which got me thinking… I’ve made lots of fascinators and a birdcage veil in the past but why not have a go at making a full on veil?!

So here’s my DIY wedding veil tutorial, minus any sewing! TOP TIP - it would look gorgeous with a few crystals, lace or fabric flowers sewn on!

To make this you will need… approximately 1 meter of netting, a hair comb, pinking scissors, a small length of elastic and some strong glue (I used my mini glue gun!)

Instructions…

Cut the netting into long,1-inch wide strips with your pinking scissors (to prevent the edges from fraying). Then start by simply tying them in a knot around the elastic in the middle of each strip…

Repeat until you’re happy with your veil’s fullness, scrunching the knots together as you go to build thickness!

Now thread the ends of your elastic through each of the end prongs on the comb…

And glue into place on each side of the comb to secure the elastic…

Once the glue is dry you can enjoy wearing it, down the aisle, on your hen do, to clean the house… whatever ;-)
