It was a very average Thursday morning when an email popped into my inbox from 'Vintage Twee' with the owner, Joanne, telling me everything I needed to know about her business and how it has evolved. So interested and impressed with her products was I, that I decided to publish her account on here as our Friday Frenzy blog! Well, vintage teas do seem to be sweeping the nation and becoming a real trend at weddings and events. So, over to Joanne from Vintage Twee:
I recently decided to embark on a life long dream of pursuing a career as an artist - something I have wanted to do since I was a child but I never got the opportunity to study art at school and so didnt follow this route when I entered work. However, I believe I have the drive and ambition to make it work and I have spent the past few months designing and creating a range of handcrafted, vintage-inspired favours and table decor for weddings, bridal showers and other special occasions. I started up Vintage Twee in March 2010 with an aim to providing a unique and lovely dining experience for people by adding a touch of English authenticity to their event.
Everything is hand crafted and is inspired by my British heritage, love for tea and classic romance and imagery from a bygone era. I use vintage materials where possible when I create my items, such as lace, pearls, jewellery, music sheets and imagery. There are lots I can do but here is just a list of some of the pieces of pretty I've been creating lately:
- Vintage Music Sheet Rose Cone Favours - handcrafted from 1920s/30s classical music sheets
- Pillow Talk and Feather Pillow Favour boxes - created from a 1940s love letter from a girl to her soldier sweetheart during the war
- Decorative Tea Favours - designed to hold individual tea bags for your guests. These come in either the Alice in Wonderland Collection or the English Literature playwright - both contain entertaining tea quotes on the front from characters/famous people.
- Alice in Wonderland themed party picks and Drink Me tags - ideal for party food/cakes and tea cup handles and soon to be featured in Country Homes & Interiors magazine!
OK, so whose for Vintage Twee!?
